Welcome

If you are here because you suffer from Degenerative Vitreous Syndrome, and you are looking for support and guidance, then we hope that in due course this site will offer you all the resources you need to help deal with the condition on a daily basis, and to make a decision on whether treatment is suitable for you.  It may also help you achieve a greater level of support from friends, family and doctors who often do not appreciate the full implications of this potentially disabling vision perception disorder.

It does take some effort of empathy and imagination to appreciate this as a 'non-trivial' disorder – the descriptive term 'floaters' is perhaps itself not helpful in this respect. There is no physical pain, threat to life or loss of vision as such. However, patient reports clearly aim to communicate a quality-of-life issue that is better understood as a virtual 'life sentence': professionally & personally debilitating and a major impediment to psychological well-being.

If you are a medical professional interested in learning more about the condition, and some of the common misconceptions, then we hope this site will provide you with a good starting point.

One Clear Vision is a collaborative effort by a group of volunteers from around the world aiming to re-educate the public and professional community, and promote better understanding of severe vitreous floaters (or Degenerative Vitreous Syndrome).  The One Clear Vision website is a central point of reference for the group’s activities, and aims to provide a trusted resource for patients and medical professionals alike.  The scope of our activities and goals cover improved patient support, more accurate and up-to-date information regarding causes and treatment options, and eventually research into new treatment options in conjunction with a secure fundraising channel backed up by official charity status.

One Clear Vision welcomes support and endorsement by ophthalmic institutions and medical professionals, but please note that impartiality has been adopted as a core value and as such we do not endeavour to promote individual eye doctors or their practices.

Thanks for visiting.
